In connection to my
last post… I’ve been meaning to mention that Noam Chomsky’s incisive analysis of liberal histories of the Spanish Civil War – part of the essay on
“Objectivity and Liberal Scholarship” in his 1969
American Power and the New Mandarins - is included as a chapter in the recent
On Anarchism:
I have problems with some of the arguments in the book, but if you’re interested in the Spanish Civil War and/or in
how intellectual work is subtly shaped by politics and ideology, it would probably be worth buying for this chapter alone.
